Q: How did you first hear of Rachel Jasmine Studio and what made you want to book with us?

A: I actually discovered Rachel Jasmine Studio through a google search of boudoir photographers. While there were endless results, I didn’t quite know what I was looking for until I stumbled upon Rachel’s work. As soon as a started pouring through her photos, I knew I had found the person I wanted to work with. Her work is beautiful, but beyond that, her mission as a boudoir photographer, to empower women to love and value their individual bodies, really stuck with me as such a beautiful gift she could offer, as a woman and as an artist.

Q: What was your initial reason for booking?

A: I’ve been thinking of doing a boudoir shoot for a while, primarily as a gift for my partner. But as I began interacting with Rachel, I began to realize how empowering this experience could be for me as a woman, and how much I deserved to embrace and celebrate my own body.

Q: Did you have any expectations going into the shoot? What were they?

A: My expectations prior to the shoot were definitely low… not for any doubt on Rachel’s part, but I simply could not imagine myself looking anything like the women she had featured in her photos. Would you be able to tell I was breaking out? Did I bring the right outfit? Would it be obvious this was my first shoot? Would any of the pictures even be worth keeping? I was completely nervous about literally stripping myself down in front of a complete stranger, and then tackling the added challenge of finding that sultry/sexy sweet spot that boudoir is known for. But the warmth I felt from Rachel from the first time we spoke, coupled with my initial interaction with her on the morning of my shoot quickly put all of my doubts at ease. She made me feel incredibly comfortable, and by the end of the shoot, the anxiety had vanished and I felt so in my element. Now, having collaborated with her and her team on multiple occasions, that sense of comfort carries through every session and translates into beautiful, confident photos.

Q: What was it like seeing your images for the first time?

A: I was honestly at a loss for words. Rachel has a great skill of maintaining your confidence throughout the shoot and really letting her excitement for how the images are turning out behind the camera shine through, but I still never expected the photos to turn out the way they did. To this day, I find myself looking at them and struggling to convince myself that they are actually photographs of me. After several shoots with her, knowing what pure magic she is capable of creating, my excitement builds more and more each reveal day.

Q: What products did you purchase, and why do you think other women might love the same pieces?

A: After seeing all of the photos, I purchased an album, metal wall prints, and an acrylic photo block. Because I took advantage of the pay-in-full option with several bonus add-on’s (which I highly recommend), my original plan was just to purchase a smaller album. I truly underestimated how much I would love the photos, and at the image reveal, I could not stand to limit myself. So I decided to upgrade for a larger digital gallery, larger album, and wall art; and I’m so glad I did!

Q: Has anything changed for you since your boudoir experience and seeing your gallery? How has boudoir impacted your body image as a woman?

A: Despite any level of confidence they may have, I think most women go through low periods, periods when they may not really feel at home in their own body. I’ve found looking back at my photos during these low periods, and seeing such a juxtaposition between how I feel at that moment, and what my photos portray, really brings me back to a place of loving my body, even the parts that aren’t “traditionally attractive”. Boudoir as an experience has offered me a lot of confidence to embrace the fullest and most natural expression of my sexuality.

Beyond her talent, which sets her far apart from her peers, she is one of the most down-to-earth women I have ever met. She is incredibly genuine and driven, and radiates such a creative energy. She is truly just a pleasure to be around.

Q: What advice would you give to another woman considering the boudoir experience with Rachel Jasmine Studio?

A: Boudoir is for every woman. Don’t “wait for the right time” or the “right person” or the “right size”. Whether you do it for yourself or for someone else – it will ultimately show you just how beautiful and remarkable and worthy you are.
