Here’s some of the top questions we received from some of our inquiring babes through the years about boudoir and what to expect with your time with us.
1. What is boudoir?
RJS defines boudoir as intimate artistry and a self love experience. We want you to fall in love with yourself in a new way. We are going to show you the beauty in you that has always been there; but I will take your hand and support you the entire way as I walk you right outside your comfort zone.
2. Will you help me with posing?
100% YES! Put your trust in me, babe. I have photographed over 300 everyday women in my career as a boudoir photographer. Every woman you see on my website is an everyday gal, just like you. All you need to do is follow my lead, mimic my movements, and be able to take instruction. I will coach and pose your body AND your facial expressions.
3. Do you offer hair and makeup?
Hell-to-the-yes! No boudoir session can be complete without it. You will have your hair and makeup done here in our studio as part of your experience with us. I vet and interview the top makeup artists in our area to ensure our clients look their very best on camera. Want a classic, more natural look? We can do that. Want that Kim K snatched jaw? We can do that too.
4. What should I wear?
Once you officially become a client you get access to the Client Portal which will house all of the prep guides on how and where to shop for lingerie. I’ve broken down what all of the style are and how they relate to your body type and your level of comfort. You’ll then get my curated list of absolute favorite lingerie retailers that you can trust to shop with. The budget you allocate to your wardrobe is entirely up to you. Some of our clients spend less than $100 on their pieces, and some have been known to spend $600+ on the ultra dreamy luxury brands. You’ll also have access to borrow from our Client Closet of over 200 lingerie pieces ranging in sizes from XS-5XL.
5. Do I need to lose 20 pounds?
Absolutely not. I love celebrating with my clients when they achieve their goals, and if weight loss is one of them, it will never be met with backhanded compliments or invalidating your desire to be the healthiest version of you. However, you do not need to lose a single pound to celebrate yourself as a beautiful woman. We are often conditioned to believe that our worth is tied to our physical beauty. At RJS we flip it and reverse it. Our physical beauty radiates from our inner beauty. Don’t rob yourself of self empowerment over a couple jean sizes. Remember when we were younger? And how most of us would kill to have that body back? But we didn’t really appreciate it when we had it? Yeah. Me too. That cycle ends now. We are here to love ourselves in this very moment. Our future selves will thank us for it.
6. When should I book my session?
We are usually on a waiting list for up to 3-4 months out; especially during the holiday season starting in August and wrapping up in March. It’s best to get in touch with us 6 months prior to your desired product delivery time frame. Turn around for printed products is 8 weeks, so make sure to plan ahead. Or stay on our email list to try and snag any last minute openings!
7. What is the Image Reveal?
After your shoot we’ll send you off to lunch for 1 hour. When you return we’ll begin your Image Reveal. You’ll see your images for the first time in a slideshow over a glass of wine. I’ll pull out all the product samples for you and explain what all the things are on our pricing menu. From there, I’ll help you curate a gallery of the images you love most as your design consultant. Whether you are purchasing an album, a wall art installation, or other display pieces, I love the process of making the artwork come to life in tangible products for you to cherish for a lifetime.
8. Can I bring a friend?
Yes and no. If you feel you would like to bring a guest or a chaperone, they may be in the studio during hair and makeup. We’ll ask them to leave the studio for the duration of your shoot. There is a nearby coffee shop we recommend they visit during this time. They may return with you from lunch to be present for your Image Reveal, though we prefer that only financial decision makers attend this appointment.
9. Will you be posting my images on social media?
This decision is entirely up to you. We have many clients who chose to remain private and will waive the social media release. Some clients opt for an “anonymous” release where we can share only the images that don’t show their face. Whether the decision to remain private is personal or professional, we hold client privacy of the highest importance and support any decision you make that you feel right for you.
10. Do you offer payment plans?
Absolutely! We understand that for some of our clients, working with us is an investment they need to carefully consider. While some of our clients swipe a credit card with ease, others need more time to arrange their finances. Our incentive program, the Pre-Session Payment Plan, was designed with the babe in mind who would benefit from booking up to 8 months out to take advantage of making smaller installment payments on a desired collection. When their session date finally arrives, they’ll have their collection paid up in full.
For clients who want financing options without the long wait for their session, we utilize a 3rd party financing company called Affirm who will issue you a virtual credit card to shop directly with our company. We also take all major credit cards (many clients will sign up for one with points or special zero interest financing), as well as PayPal credit.
